Every influencer partnership goes through the same three stages: identification and vetting, negotiation and contracting, and briefing with content approvals — in that order, and none of them skipped because a creator looks like an obvious fit.
Identification is where most of the real work happens. It’s less about audience size and more about whether that audience actually matches the client’s market and industry — an automotive brand doesn’t need a beauty creator’s follower count, it needs an audience that’s realistically in-market for the product.
Contracting and briefing exist to protect both sides: clear deliverables, clear approval rounds before anything goes live, and clear expectations on what “success” looks like for that specific campaign — set before the creator posts, not argued about after.
